Prague turns up the pixels with Signal Fest

Prague is set to become a giant canvas for light, sound and digital art.

From October 15 to 18, the Signal Festival will transform streets, squares, historic buildings and unexpected interiors into immersive works by Czech and international artists. Since launching in 2013, the annual festival has created a collision between the city’s Gothic architecture and the technology of tomorrow. It’s now one of the Czech Republic’s biggest contemporary art events, attracting more than half a million visitors in 2025. This year’s theme is Dream On! Dreams and Visions.

The 2026 edition spreads across two routes (in the city center and Dejvice) with 21 installations across 17 locations. Highlights range from a 10-meter-high laser installation on the Vltava to immersive works by artists like Jim Campbell, Kurt Hentschläger and Aka Chang. There’s also a particularly Prague-ish sense of discovery: the ticketed Signal INSIDE program leads visitors into spaces they might not normally see, including a historic wastewater treatment plant, churches and the 18th-century Mirror Chapel.

Signal’s ambitions now extend beyond the annual spectacle. Signal Space, its permanent digital-art gallery, opened in the Old Town Market Hall in 2025, giving the festival a year-round home. The gallery presents large-scale projections, light installations, digital experiments and robotic sculptures, including the current Echoes of Tomorrow exhibition. The result is less a conventional art festival than a citywide treasure hunt, where wandering Prague after dark can lead to anything from a glowing medieval landmark to an entirely new digital reality.

“With Signal Festival, we bring light and technology directly to the city and its public spaces,” gallery and festival founder Martin Pošta told LOST iN. “With Signal Space, we’ve created a year-round home where those same ideas can be explored in a truly immersive, controlled environment. Both side-by-side allow us to showcase digital art at every scale—from massive outdoor projections to personal, sensory installations. We want visitors to walk the festival routes, step into Signal Space, and feel completely surrounded by creativity. Combining the strengths of Signal Festival and Signal Space together, we seek to create a place where digital and creative art will be celebrated as well as challenged to innovate and inspire curiosity all year round.”
