    In the Hands of Giants

    In the Hands of Giants

There’s something mythological about it. As if the mountain grew giant stone hands, lifted a golden walkway into the clouds and invited us to cross between earth and sky.

Nearly 5,000 feet above sea level in the Annamite Mountains, the Golden Bridge (Cầu Vàng) has become one of Vietnam’s most instantly recognizable sights, its surreal design evoking a connection between humans and nature. It’s also one of the country’s most coveted Instagram shots. The bridge is part of Sun World Ba Na Hills, a sprawling mountain resort near Da Nang reached by one of the world’s longest and highest cable-car systems. Part mountain retreat, part surrealist theme park, Ba Na Hills combines gardens, attractions and a whimsical French Village in a setting that feels like a fairyland above the clouds.

Want to beat the crowds? An overnight stay at the Mercure Danang French Village Bana Hills lets you reach the bridge early in the morning before the day-trippers crash the party.
